WINFRED H. HAGGARD

Winfred H. Haggard, 88, of Kimball, Tennessee, was called home to be with his Lord and Savior on Friday, May 22, 2026. Born on October 24, 1937, in Jasper, Tennessee, he was the son of George Washington Haggard and Leona Looney Haggard.  A proud graduate of Marion County High School’s Class of 1958, Winfred was a dedicated member of the MCHS football team and was later honored with induction into the MCHS Hall of Fame on February 5, 2011. A faithful Christian man, he lived his life with humility, integrity, and devotion.  Winfred married the love of his life, Betty Goff Haggard, and together they shared 68 wonderful years of marriage, building a home filled with love, laughter, and unwavering commitment.  He worked at Velsicol Chemical from 1960 until his retirement in 1994. His dedication to public service continued as he served Marion County as a County Commissioner from 1982 to 1993 and later as Register of Deeds from 1994 to 2014.  Winfred found joy in the simple pleasures of life, being outdoors, walking, or sitting on the porch where he loved to visit with friends and talk about politics. His presence was steady, his conversation thoughtful, and his friendship genuine.  He leaves behind a legacy of service, faith, and love that will continue to inspire all who knew him.

Winfred is preceded in death by his father, George Washington Haggard; mother, Leona Looney Haggard; brothers, Charles, Leonard, Donald, Arlan, Wilbert, and Clinton Haggard; sisters, Berthaline, Pauline, Hazel; and grandson, Joshua Todd Smith.

Left to cherish his memories are his wife, Betty Goff Haggard; son, Tim (Debbie) Haggard; daughters, Sharon (Terry) Case, Theresa Rominger; grandchildren, Tiffany (Lance) Talley, Tyler Haggard, Taylor (Hope) Case; great grandchildren, Cameron Medrano, Breyson Talley, Coy Haggard, Emma Case, Conor Case, Eli Case; several nieces, nephews, other family members and friends. 

Visitation is on Sunday, May 24, 2026, from 4:00 to 8:00 pm CST and on Monday, May 25, 2026, from 12:00 Noon to 2:00 pm CST at Tate Funeral Home in Jasper, Tennessee.

Funeral services are on Monday, May 25, 2026, at 2:00 pm in the Chapel of Tate Funeral Home in Jasper, Tennessee with Pastor Ronnie Case and Terry Case officiating.

Winfred will be laid to rest on Monday, May 25, 2026, at Sequatchie Valley Memorial Gardens in Jasper, Tennessee immediately following the funeral service.

Pallbearers are Lance Talley, Taylor Case, Breyson Talley, Roger Haggard, Larry Haggard and Royce Dawson.
