WILMA IRENE ADKINS

After a brief illness, the beautiful hand of Wilma Irene Adkins, 76, was lifted to the pearly gates of heaven by her precious Lord and Savior on Thursday, April 28, 2022.    Wilma was a resident of Jasper, TN and was married for 54 years to her loving husband, Don E. Adkins, Sr..     She was born on November 23, 1945 to the late Richard Smith and Kathleen Sweeton Smith.  Wilma was of the Baptist faith and a dedicated and loyal member of the First Baptist Church in Jasper, TN.     She loved to profess her faith and being a servant for her loving God.

Wilma leaves her beautiful memories to her husband, Don E. Adkins, Sr.; son, Don (Dusty) E. Adkins, Jr.; daughter, Melissa (Nathan) Barker; brothers, Pete (Margaret) Smith and Jeff (Laura) Smith; sister, Cheryl (Danny) Moore; grandchildren, Sydney Barker, Griffin Adkins, Noah Adkins and Alex Barker along with a host of nieces, nephews and loving friends. 

She is preceded in death by her parents, Richard Smith and Kathleen Sweeton Smith. 

Wilma was a woman full of love, joy and happiness.  Her treasured loves were being a great wife, mother to her precious children and grandmother to her beautiful grandchildren.  Her grandchildren lovingly referred to her as “ Granny Wo”.  Wilma had a heart of gold, along with a cheerful smile and was able to love beyond belief which was a mighty foundation for her family.    During Wilma’s past time, she loved gardening, working in her flowers along with watching the Hallmark Channel.   She was an avid fan of the Tennessee Lady Vols basketball team.     To describe Wilma, was to say during her lifetime, she built a legacy of kindness, love, generosity, honesty and most of all love for those that crossed her path.   God took the best when He guided Wilma to the heavenly gates.

The family will have visitation on Sunday, May 1, 2022 from 1:00 pm to 6:00 pm CST at Tate Funeral Home in Jasper, TN.

Funeral service will be held on Monday, May 2, 2022 at 1:00 pm CST at Jasper First Baptist Church in Jasper, TN.   There will be visitation from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm CST prior to the service at 1:00 pm at Jasper First Baptist Church.   The service will be officiated by Pastor Greg Steele.

Interment will follow the service at Sequatchie Valley Memorial Gardens in Jasper, TN.

Pallbearers will be Don Adkins, Jr., Jeff Smith, Nathan Barker, Danny Moore, Zach Moore, Griffin Adkins, Noah Adkins and Alex Barker.   Honorary Pallbearers are her “Hope Sunday School Class”at Jasper First Baptist Church.
