WILLIAM (BILL) F. HELM

William F. “Bill” Helm of South PIttsburg, Tennessee,  passed away peacefully on Tuesday, July 2nd, 2019, at the age of 90 years young.  He was born in Brunswick, TN on April 9, 1929, to Albert and Ada Helm.  He was baptized at the age of 17, at the Berclair Church of Christ in Memphis, TN. 

Bill served in the Air Force during the Korean War, and after his discharge attended Freed Hardeman College, Harding College and Harding School of Bible and Religion.  He was a gospel preacher for many years along with being a teacher at South Pittsburg High School and manager of Space Age Gift Shop. 

Bill enjoyed writing religious articles for the local newspaper and he also had experience in professional photography.

The hearts he leaves behind are his wife, Martha (Marty) Helm of 71 years; son Tommy Helm, DDS (Valerie); and daughter, Lisa Shappley (Bill).   Also, grandchildren, Haley Walton (Chip), Becca Hampton (Tyler), and Bryson Helm.  In addition, three great-grandchildren, Rose Walton, Ella Walton and Thomas Hampton.  Surviving brothers and sisters are Alvin Helm, Evelyn Byrd and Mamie Gates all of Memphis, Tennessee.

Visitation for Bill will be held on Friday, July 5th, 2019 from 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm CDT at Tate Funeral Home in Jasper, Tennessee with Minister Ron Gilbert officiating.

Funeral services will be held immediately following the visitation in the Chapel of Tate Funeral Home.

Bill will be laid to rest at Sequatchie Valley Memorial Gardens in Jasper, Tennessee with a Military Honors Ceremony by the Sequatchie Valley Honor Guard.
