VIRGINIA G. WAMPLER

 

 

As the angels took her hands, the Lord guided Virginia G. Wampler to the heavenly gates on Monday, March 8, 2021.   Virginia was a lifelong resident of Jasper, TN.   She was of the Methodist faith and a member of McKendree Methodist Church in Jasper, TN.   Virginia was married to the late Dr. George Moore Wampler, II.  She was born on September 1, 1928 to the late Harry and Orlie Granert.  

 

Virginia was a devoted and loving wife, mother, and grandmother that ensured her family was always #1.  She had been a choir director, pianist and organist in numerous churches along with being a piano teacher as she followed in her husband’s ministry for the Holston Conference of The United Methodist Church.   Virginia was a loyal Tennessee Vol football fan of the "Go Big Orange".  She was also a best friend to those that shared her life.

 

She is preceded in death by her husband, Dr. George Moore Wampler, II; parents, Harry W. and Orlie M. Granert and great-grandson, Damion Pickett.

 

Virginia leaves her memories to her sons, Chip (Winna) Wampler and Wes (Robin) Wampler; grandchildren, Angela (JJ) Walker, Nikki (Cecil) Paris, Danielle Wampler, Sean Wampler, C.J. (Catlin Castle) Wampler and John Wampler; great-grandchildren, Donovan Pickett, Brayden Pickett, Trey Womack, Hannah Jones, Remi Pruitt, John Barrett Pruitt and Baby Wampler arriving in October; nephews, Richard Westbrook and Charlie Westbrook, special friend, Charlie Duggan; caregivers, Autumn Laws, Jill Parker and Roxanne Sharp; Hearth Hospice caregivers, Cierra, Paige, Candius, Lexi, Catlin and Chaplin David along with beloved friends.

 

The pallbearers will be Tommy Stanfield, Wally Brown, Billy Simpson, Les Price, Graham Swafford and Joe Morgan.   Honorary Pallbearers are Mac Bumpus, Gus Angle, Johnny Grimes, Keith Cox and Dave Daffron.

 

The family has requested in lieu of flowers, that donations be made to the McKendree United Methodist Church in Jasper, TN.

 

The family will have visitation on Thursday, March 11, 2021 from 11:00 am to 2:00 pm CT at Tate Funeral Home in Jasper, TN.

 

Ms. Virginia’s graveside service will be held following the visitation at 3:00 pm CT at Pine Grove Cemetery in Jasper, TN with Reverend Joseph Manis, Sr. officiating.
