UE JA "OKIE" DODSON
Ue Ja "Okie" Dodson stepped into Heaven on June 14, 2022, leaving behind daughter Ginny (Mark) Dodson Whitaker, son Lance (Britt) Cleveland, granddaughter Amanda (Clay) Hudson, granddaughter Alyssa Whitaker and many other loving family members.
Born September 15, 1943, in South Korea. She was one of nine siblings. Okie came to the United States in 1964 as an army bride. She settled in Texas only to move to Jasper in 1965. She was quickly adopted into a new family. She decided to attend night school to study for the citizenship exam. She proudly became a naturalized US citizen in April of 1971. She later went back to night school and graduated with her GED. She always believed education was a privilege and not to be taken for granted.
She had many adversities in life, but she overcame them all with strength, grace and her faith in the Lord. She was small, but fierce and loved her family, friends and community. She was a member of the Church of God until her death and loved hymns the best. She was always eager to share her faith everywhere she went. Many hospital employees and patients got to hear about the Lord from her many visits. She never failed to pray daily for her family and friends. Everyone who knew her, loved her and she will be greatly missed by all.
The family will receive visitors on Friday, June 17, 2022, from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm CST and 9:00 am to 11:00 am on Saturday, June 18, 2022 at Tate Funeral Home in Jasper, TN.
Funeral service will be held in the Chapel of Tate Funeral Home on Saturday, June 18, 2022, at 11:00 am CST with Reverend John Whitaker officiating.
