THOMAS WILLIAMS, SR.

Thomas Williams, Sr., 89, was called home to Heaven of September 13, 2022. Thomas was from Whitwell, Tennessee, where he was a resident of fifty years, Thomas was originally from Evergreen, Alabama.  He was born to the late Herbert Williams and Alice Stacey Williams on July 30, 1933.  Thomas was of the Baptist faith and as a young man joined the United States Air Force where he was enlisted for four years.  He was a 1961 graduate of the University of Alabama where he earned a BS degree in Mechanical Engineering and worked for Tennessee Valley Authority for most of his life.  He loved Alabama football, fishing, hunting, traveling and spending time with his family.

He is preceded in death by his father, Herbert Williams; mother, Alice Stacey Williams as well as the love of his life, Alvena Smith from Whitwell, Tennessee who has been waiting on him as of four years ago.

He is survived by three children, Tammy Rupe of McDonough, Georgia, Jennifer Williams and Thomas Williams, Jr. from Whitwell, Tennessee. Tom also has five grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren and countless other loving family members near and far including nephews, nieces and cousins.

The family will have visitation on Friday, September 16, 2022, from 4:00 to 8:00 pm CST at Tate Funeral Home in Jasper, Tennessee, and on Saturday, September 17, 2022 from 9:00 to 10:00 am CST.

Funeral services will be Saturday, September 17, 2022, at 10:00 am CST in the Chapel of Tate Funeral Home with Pastor John Potts officiating.

Burial will be on September 17, 2022, at Whitwell Memorial Cemetery in Whitwell, Tennessee immediately following the funeral service.  The Sequatchie Valley Honor Guard will be present to present Honors.

Pallbearers are Rowan Bates, Jonah Bates, Cameron Baty, Thomas Williams, Jr., Buster Smith and Jacob Smith.
