ROY LEE BRACKETT - Dec 7, 1942 to April 4, 2020

 

Roy Lee Brackett, age 77, went to be with his Lord in the early morning hours on April 4, 2020.  Roy grew up in Tiftonia (Lookout Valley), TN. He moved to Jasper, TN in 1970 with his wife and has been a resident of the Marion County Community since.  He was of the Baptist faith and a devoted member of Tiftonia Baptist Church in Lookout Valley, TN.  Roy was a contractor by trade, owning his own construction company for many years and working with Sequatchie Handle Factory.  In the 90’s, he became the Marion County Building Official working in the Building and Planning office for over 20 years before retiring.  He currently held the position of Building Official for the City of Whitwell and provided consulting/blueprint design independently in Jasper, TN.

 

Roy was preceded in death by his parents, Inez Camp Brackett and John C Brackett; his brothers, Johnny Brackett, Carl Brackett, Jimmy Brackett, and Robert Brackett; sister, Glynda Spencer; brother-in-law, Richard Pittman and sister-in-law, Alma Ruth Parmer.

 

Those left to cherish his memory are his wife of 55 years, Carolyn Pittman Brackett; daughter, Candace Brackett Morgan (Jasper, TN); brothers, Joe (Catherine) Brackett (Jasper, TN) and David (Helen) Brackett (Chattanooga, TN); sister, Barbara (Eugene) Roach (Ringgold, GA); granddaughters, Shelby Cameron Gossett (Jasper, TN) and Skylar Brianne Morgan (Jasper, TN); sister-in-laws,  Wanda (Joe) Hitchcock  (Chattanooga), Patty Gravitt (Kimball), Margaret (Billy) Muir (Kimball), Brenda (David) Miller (Kimball), Charlotte (Jim) Patterson (Kimball) and Diane Brackett,  and brother-in-law, Eddie Pittman (Kimball).  He leaves behind multiple cousins, nieces, nephews, and many friends.

 

Roy was a member of the Masonic Lodge #297, Eastern Star # 124, ICC, TBOA, ETBOA, and the Crusaders Sunday School Class. 

 

The family will hold a private graveside service, per guidelines set by the State of Tennessee, at Sequatchie Valley Memorial Gardens on Tuesday April 7, 2020 at 10:00 am CDT/11:00 am EDT with Pastor Mark Brandon officiating. 

 

A Memorial Celebration of Life will be planned for a later date to be held at Tiftonia Baptist Church.
