Robert "Bobby" Quarles Obituary

ROBERT D. “BOBBY” QUARLES

As the heavenly blue skies opened with the Lord standing with opening arms, He welcomed Robert D. “Bobby” Quarles to his heavenly home on Monday, May 2, 2022.   Bobby, as he was known by all, was 84 years old and a lifetime resident of Jasper, TN.   He had been married to his loving wife, Margie “Herlene” Quarles for 58 beautiful years.    Bobby was a member of Brainerd Hills Baptist Church in Chattanooga, TN.  He was born on May 22, 1937 to the late Jack D. “Weazel” Quarles and Hazel C. Quarles.

Bobby was a 1956 graduate of Marion County High School along with being a MCHS football player for four years.  Bobby had been employed with Velsicol Chemicals for 43 years before retiring.

To begin a man’s life history for 84 years can’t be said in this obituary.   Bobby’s family wishes to share the most important treasures in his life.   His first true love was his Lord and Savior; his beautiful wife, Herlene; his children; grandchildren; great-grandchildren and years of friends he made throughout his lifetime.  Bobby had coached baseball in his earlier years along with being active as a Greater Jasper Jaycee member then receiving his “Lifetime Membership” to the Tennessee Jaycees and the local chapter.   Bobby was also honored with the award as the Greater Jasper Jaycees “1965 Outstanding Young Man of the Year”.   He was very active in the Jasper community, Marion County and had been an active member of the Jasper Fire Department for many years.

To fill his joy after his early retirement, he had the honor of being the bus driver for most of his grandchildren.   He loved drag racing, NASCAR, and a true avid Chevrolet “aka bow tie” fan.   Bobby loved his family, friends and he enjoyed most of all sharing his hearts to those he met through his path of life.   Bobby will be greatly missed by all that loved him.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Jack D. “Weazel Quarles and Hazel C. Quarles; brother, Joe Larry Goforth; sister-in-law, Betty T. Quarles; and nephew, Jason Quarles.

Bobby leaves his amazing memories to his wife, Margie “Herlene” Quarles; sons, Robert “Wayne” Quarles and Charles “David” (Jennifer) Quarles; grandchildren, Landen, Taylor, Trent, Addy and Kyle Quarles; great-grandchildren, Braxton, Kaylie, Tessa, Oakley and Ty Quarles; brother, Benny Don Quarles; sister, Faye Hankins, special dear friend, Crystal  Roberts Nugent several nieces and nephews along with a host of loving friends.
