Paul Horace Powell

The Lord called Paul Horace Powell at the age of 83 Home on Monday, July 15, 2019.   Paul was born and raised in Jasper, Tennessee until 1958 when he made his home in the Chattanooga, TN area.   Paul was of the Baptist faith and he was considered as a very simple and humble man.   He was known as being the salt of the earth with a heart of gold.   Paul was loved by anyone that met him, especially children and animals.  

In June, 1955, Paul enlisted in the United States Army and served during the Korean War.  He received an honorable discharge in April, 1957.

In 1958, Paul became employed with W.T. Grant in Chattanooga, TN for over 20 years.   His last employer before he retired was with Wichman Monuments in Chattanooga, TN as a laborer.   Paul loved western movies, the western life and most of all he called John Wayne his hero.  

Paul was preceded in death by his parents, Houston and Nellie Powell; wife, Alma Lee Powell; son, Mitchel Powell; brothers, Reverend William “Bill” Powell, Louis Earl Powell, and Houston Ray Powell and sister, Linda Powell Douglas.

The loved ones he leaves behind are his daughter, Paula Reagan (Benny); sister, Nola Ann Andrews; and grandchildren, Hailey McGee, Paige Coppage (Sam) and Joe Keith (Jessica).

The family has requested visitation on Thursday, July 18, 2019 at Tate Funeral Home in Jasper, Tennessee from 1:00 pm to 3:00 pm ct/2:00 pm to 4:00 pm et.  

A graveside service will be held following the visitation at Pine Grove Cemetery in Jasper, TN.
