Nancy Elizabeth Barnes Pickett

Nancy Elizabeth Barnes Pickett, 67, of Jasper, TN., left her earthly body and joined heaven’s choir on Tuesday, August 31, 2021.  She was born on June 16, 1954.  Nancy had been employed by the Marion County School system as a bus driver since the age of 18 where she joined the 3rd generation of family members to carry the county’s precious cargo of children to and from school daily.  She also worked for many years as an employer of the Golden Gallon/Circle K store in Jasper as both manager and assistant manager as well as an emergency responder driver for the Marion County Ambulance Service. Nancy was in the first class of first responders taught in Marion County TN in 1995-96. She was a member of the MCHS class of 1972.

Nancy’s passion for life was endless; her love of her family and friends superseded any love man could know. She was very passionate about her nephew, Jacob and his two sons, her great-nephews Jack and Jude. She often said nothing could bring a smile to her face quicker than a smile or call from them.
 

Nancy was born on June 16, 1954 to the daughter of the late John D. Barnes Jr. (Sonny), and Shirlene Long Barnes of Jasper, TN.   Nancy was also preceded in death by both parents; her husband, Gary Edward Pickett; her sister, Judy Mae Barnes Doyle of Trenton, GA., maternal and paternal grandparents.

She is survived by her brother, John Dillion Barnes III (Del and Katie); one nephew Jacob Barnes (Amber); one niece, Phalan Doyle Fugate; two great nephews Jack and Jude Barnes, and great niece Marlena Fugate; several cousins who she always introduced as brothers and sisters to many.

WITH THIS BEING A PUBLIC GRAVESIDE SERVICE, MANDATORY MASK WILL BE REQUIRED TO THOSE THAT ATTEND WHETHER YOU HAVE UNDERLYING ISSUES OR NOT.  

Interment with graveside service will be held, Saturday, September 4, 2021, at 4:00 pm CST at Sequatchie Valley Memorial Gardens in Jasper, TN with Brother Jayme Eggert officiating.

Pallbearers will be Stacy Teeters, Thomas McEntyre, Mack Reeves, Colton Taylor, Jacob Barnes and Ryan Miller.

In lieu of flowers the family request donations to be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital.
