MARY ELIZABETH “NANCY” STOKES
The Lord took the precious hand of Mary Elizabeth “Nancy” Stokes to guide her Home on Monday, February 3rd, 2020. Nancy was 86 years old and lived in Jasper, Tennessee. She was of the Methodist faith and was a member of the Pleasant Grove United Methodist Church in Jasper, TN.
Nancy loved and adored her Savior Jesus Christ along with her children and grandchildren. In her past time, she spent numerous hours studying her Bible, crocheting, word search books, playing with her cats, and working in her beautiful flower beds. Nancy was known for her amazing baked cookies which she shared with anyone that crossed her path.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Howard Kenneth Stokes; parents, Emmett and Sally Rounsaville; brother, Charles Rounsaville and sister, Edith Baatz.
Those left to cherish her memories are her son, Robert (Rhonda) Stokes; daughters, Ann (Dooner) Walden and Martha (Steve) LeRoy; honorary daughter, Toni Billingsley Overby; grandchildren, Keith (Kristy) Walden; Jonathan Walden (Charlie); Melissa (Joseph) McGuire; Tanner (Brook) Roberts; great-grandchildren, Victoria Walden, Trey McGuire and Rilee Robertson along with several nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, the family has requested contributions may be made to Pleasant Grove United Methodist Church in memory of Mrs. Nancy.
The family will have visitation on Thursday, February 6, 2020 from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm CST at Tate Funeral Home in Jasper, Tennessee.
Funeral service will be held at 1:00 pm CST on Friday, February 7, 2020 in the Chapel of Tate Funeral Home with Pastor Cecil Baxter and Pastor Norman Payne officiating.
Mrs. Nancy will be laid to rest at Sequatchie Valley Memorial Gardens in Jasper, TN.
