MARLIN COOLEY

Marlin Cooley, 83, of Whitwell, Tennessee was called home on March 5, 2023.  He was born on the 23rd of May 1939 to the late John and Beatrice Cooley in Leaksville, Mississippi.

Marlin was a truck driver for thirty plus years, where he earned his CB handle “Bucklehole” from his daughter Charity.  He earned the title “Darling” from his daughter Jill.  Then came Marlie in June of 1988, who officially made him a “Daddy”.  His greatest blessings in life were his wife of thirty-six years, his children, grandchildren, family and friends.  Marlin’s last employment was at the Marion County Convenience Center where he helped serve the citizens of Marion County.  Marlin attended Palmer Church of God for twenty years and was a God-fearing praying man.

Marlin is preceded in death by his parents, John and Beatrice Cooley; sisters, Bessie Mae Nelson, Alla Bea Boudro, Wyvonia Nell Cooley (infant sister); brothers, Alvin Cooley, John Cooley, Glen Cooley, Bobby Cooley; father-in-law, Gene (Lavonne) Manasco; mother-in-law, Ethel (John) Perry; sister-in-law, Vicki Manasco Nance; granddaughter Calliope “Calli” Irene Cates.

Marlin leaves his precious memories to his wife of thirty-six years, Michelle Manasco Cooley; to his daughters who adored him, Charity (Bobby) Alder, Jillian (Rodney Kilgore) Nunley, Marlie (Mathew Esposito) Cates; his special son, Zachary (Chastity Simmons) Cooley; his grandchildren, Natalie Alder, Marissa Nunley, Cole Alder, Tia Alder and his name sake Marlin “Axton” Cates; his special bonus grandchildren, Tripp Dagnan, Tori Dagnan and Tinslie Dagnan; brother, Jack (Cynthia) Cooley; sisters, Mona Bea Bowen, Alvonette Hunt; special nephew, Harlen Cooley and a host of other family and friends.

Visitation will be on Tuesday, March 7, 2023, from 12:00 (Noon) to 8:00 pm CST, Wednesday, March 8, 2023, from 12:00 (Noon) to 8:00 pm CST, and on Thursday, March 9, 2023 from 12:00 (Noon) to 2:00 pm CST at Tate Funeral Home in Jasper, Tennessee.

Funeral services will be on Thursday, March 9, 2023, at 2:00 pm in the Chapel of Tate Funeral Home in Jasper, Tennessee with Brother Bill Smith and Pastor Davaughn Richardson officiating.

Burial will be on March 9, 2023, at Sardis Cemetery in Whitwell, Tennessee immediately following the funeral service.

Pallbearers are Randy Cookston, Mathew Esposito, Harlen Cooley, Derrick Layne, Toby Crenshaw and Cole Alder.
