MARJORIE WILLIAMS BAKER
On Thursday, April 23, 2020, as the angels sang, the Lord called Marjorie Williams Baker to her heavenly home. Marjorie was 93 years young and a resident of Jasper, TN. She was of the Nazarene faith and a member of the Jasper Church of Nazarene. She was a loyal and devoted wife along with giving her life and soul to God. In her past time, she enjoyed watching her hummingbirds.
Montie, as she was fondly nick named by her baby brother, Billy Joe, loved endlessly. Her personal ministry was writing letters to friends, family and perfect strangers. If you were the recipient of one of her letters, it was eloquently written and perfectly typed in her best legal secretary style. She loved sending and receiving greeting cards, especially her beloved Guidepost Christmas cards. If you ever received one of her treasured cards, it probably had a butterfly sticker on the card or envelope along with a handwritten note of how the caterpillar transitioned to a butterfly. She loved watching her hummingbirds. Footprints In The Sand was her favorite poem. She loved her Lord and lived her life knowing she would spend eternity with him. Montie volunteered at Rivermont Nursing Home for many years and adopted many of the residents as her family and received much joy from the relationships she built with these special people.
Marjorie was the daughter of the late Jehu Augustus and Grace Elsea Williams.
Marjorie was preceded in death by her brothers, Thomas, Harry (Doc), Ed and Billy Joe Williams and one sister, Dorothy Satterfield.
She leaves to cherish her memories are her husband of 43 years, John Taylor Baker along with several nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews.
The family will have a “Celebration of Life” service at a later date along with spreading her ashes.
Funeral arrangements entrusted to Tate Funeral Home, LLC, 950 Mel Dixon Lane, Jasper, TN 37347, 423-942-9500. Condolences may be sent to the family at www.tatefh.com
