MARION “DOODLE” P. RICHARDSON

As the gates of heaven opened, the Lord said welcome to your heavenly home Doodle.   Marion “Doodle” P. Richardson, 88, with his family at his side, gained his heavenly wings on Saturday, June 5, 2021, Doodle, as he was known by everyone, was a lifelong resident of Whitwell, TN.   He was born on January 22, 1933, to the late Sherman and Ealy Kilgore Richardson.   Doodle had worked for the Tennessee Highway Department as a maintenance employee for over 20 years.   He also served for over thirty- six years as a Marion County Constable and was known as "Constable 99".     His grandson, Norman Robinson was recently elected as a Marion County Constable and was given the honor as being "Constable 99", just like his Poppa.

Doodle was a man that loved and worshipped his Lord, family, grandchildren and great children along with the many people that crossed his path in his 88 years.   He was a man that enjoyed fishing, telling jokes along with being a great storyteller.   During his spare time, you could find Doodle working in his lovely garden.

He is preceded in death by his wife, Evelyn Richardson; parents, Sherman and Ealy Kilgore Richardson; son-in-laws, Wayne Peoples and Ronnie Billingsley; brothers, Charlie Richardson and Homer Richardson; sisters, Hazel Jones, Mabel Hamilton, Maggie Dodson and Pearl Spangler; grandchild, Charles D. Richardson.

Doodle leaves his memories to his son, Charles “Buddy” (Jeannie) Richardson; daughters, Diane Peoples and Wilma Billingsley; sisters, Ruby Green and Edna Craft; eleven grandchildren; twenty-two great-grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren along with a host of nieces, nephews and lifelong friends.

The family will have visitation on Monday, June 7, 2021, from 12:00 noon to 8:00 pm CT and Tuesday, June 8, 2021, from 10:00 am to 1:00 pm CT at Tate Funeral Home in Jasper, TN.

The funeral service will follow the visitation at 1:00 pm in the Chapel of Tate Funeral Home with Pastor Jeremy Robinson officiating.

Doodle will be laid to rest at Sardis Methodist Church Cemetery in Whitwell, TN,  following the funeral service.

Pallbearers will be Hollis Roberson, James Richardson, Eddie Richardson, Donnie Green, Sonny Pickett and Gary Craft.
