Marie Crawford Obituary

MARIE L. CRAWFORD

Marie Francis Crawford, 85, of Jasper, Tennessee went home to be with her Lord and Savior on April 24, 2023.  She was born to the late William Maston Lyons and Ollie Presswood Lyons on July 17, 1937.  Marie was married to the late George Crawford for sixty-seven years and attended Mt. Calvary Church.  She loved cooking and delighted in seeing people enjoy her cooking, especially her fried chicken and cornbread dressing and many desserts that were enjoyed by all.  She loved Southern Gospel music and many times throughout their lives would invite Southern Gospel singing groups into their home for fellowship and a meal as they were very hospitable people.  She never had piano lessons but could play almost every song she knew and play it well.  Her favorite song, especially in her latter years after getting dementia was “I’ve Never Been This Homesick Before” by:  Dottie Rambo and would sing it anytime, anywhere.  The last Bible verse she quoted was John 3:16, “For God so loved the world that he gave his only begotten son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have everlasting life.”  Marie and George always considered the needs and desires of others and lived out the example of Philippians 2: 4-5, “Let nothing be done through selfish ambition or conceit, but in lowliness of mind let each esteem others better than himself.  Let each of you look out not only for his own interests, but also for the interests of others.  Let this mind be in you which was also in Christ Jesus”.  Marie is loved and will be dearly missed by her family and friends.

Marie is preceded in death by her father, William Maston Lyons; mother, Ollie Presswood Lyons; husband George Crawford and grandson, Kyle Crawford.

Left to cherish her memories are her sons, Randy (Mary Beth) Crawford, Zachery (Beth) Crawford; daughters, Joyce Kerr, Diana (Dwight) Perry, Joanna McCullough, nineteen grandchildren, twenty great grandchildren and many other family members and friends.
