JOHN “JOHNNY” ALFRED GHOLSTON
John “Johnny” Alfred Gholston, age 64, of Sequatchie, Tennessee, was called home on November 20, 2025. Born on May 13, 1961, in Whitwell, Tennessee, Johnny was the beloved son of John Thomas Gholston and Geneva Pittman Gholston. He was married to Doris Henry Gholston. Johnny had a lifelong passion for classic cars, especially the 1965 and 1966 Ford Mustangs, and Ford trucks of all kinds. He loved tinkering with anything, always finding joy in fixing and creating. Wrestling was another pastime he enjoyed, and he cherished the moments spent babysitting Jr., which brought him great happiness. Family was at the center of Johnny’s life. He treasured every opportunity to spend time with his loved ones, sharing laughter, stories, and memories. His faithful dog, Milo, was his constant companion, bringing him comfort and joy. Johnny was known for his warm personality and sense of humor. He had many friends and delighted in joking around, brightening the lives of those around him. His presence was a gift, and his memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew him.
Johnny is preceded in death by his father, John Thomas Gholston; daughter, Laura Henry; and sister, Brenda June Kilgore.
Left to cherish his memories are his mother, Geneva Pittman Gholston; wife, Doris Henry Gholston; stepson, Rodney Easterly; stepdaughter, Jessica Phillips; brothers, James Gholston, Thomas Gholston; sisters, Babe (Bruce) Smith-Nelson, Tammy Gholston, Jeannettea (J J) Lay, several nieces, nephews, other family members and special friends.
Visitation is Sunday, November 23, 2025, from 10:00 am to 1:00 pm CST at Tate Funeral Home in Jasper, Tennessee.
There will be a Graveside service on Sunday, November 23, 2025, at 1:00 at Sequatchie Valley Memorial Gardens in Jasper, Tennessee with speaker, John Smith.
Pallbearers are Buddy Fuller, Steve Tate, Greg Blevins, Jason Tate and Jay Sterling.
