JOEL “TOM” LAYNE

Joel “Tom” Layne, 68, of Jasper, Tennessee was called home on Saturday, January 20, 2024.   He was born to the late Junior Layne and Betty Lue Davis Layne on March 3, 1955.  He was married to Patricia Hawk Layne before her death.  Tom liked to play golf and had played sports all his life, including high school basketball, baseball and football.  He played men’s slow pitch softball for many, many years.  He enjoyed hunting and loved to do wood carving and wood working, and hunting arrow heads.

Tom is preceded in death by his father, Junior Layne; mother, Betty Lue Davis Layne and wife, Patricia Layne.

Left to cherish his memories are his brothers, Melvin (Pam) Layne, Darrell (Amy) Layne; several nieces, nephews and his great friend, Linda Scissom; and many other friends; first wife, Janet Allen LaFevor.

The family will hold visitation on Tuesday, January 23, 2024, from 12:30 to 3:00 pm CT at Tate Funeral Home in Jasper, Tennessee.

There will be a graveside service on Tuesday, January 23, 2024, at 3:30 at Sequatchie Valley Memorial Gardens in Jasper, Tennessee with Pastor Tony Tuders officiating.

Pallbearers are Austin Layne, Brent Layne, Bubba Ramsey, Scotty Layne, Elmer Shadrick and Chuck Steele.
