JERE D. COCKRELL
Jere D. Cockrell, 84, of South Pittsburg, Tennessee was called home to be with her Lord and Savior on Sunday, May 19, 2024. Jere was born to the late Herschel Matthews and Grace Case Matthews on March 8, 1940. She was married to the late Elgie T. Cockrell. Jere worked for TVA as a Storeroom Clerk. She was a member of Grace Baptist Church and was a wonderful person. She loved to travel, eat out and being with family and friends. She would always make a point to pay her respects to all her friends when they passed. Jere loved music, played the piano and sang at church. She enjoyed going on car rides, shopping and talking on the phone.
Jere is preceded in death by her father, Herschel Matthews; mother, Grace Case Matthews and husband, Elgie T. Cockrell.
Left to cherish her memories are her daughters, Robin (Joel) Steinbech, Tracy (John) Johnson; sister-in-law, Cheryl Webb; grandchildren, Shannon Crabtree, Lexy Johnson, Blake Brown; great grandchildren, Lilli Crabtree, Logan Crabtree; dearest friends, Carolyn Shavers and Linda Morrison; cousins, Kathy Case, Buddy Bale, many other family members and special friends.
Visitation will be Wednesday, May 22, 2024, from 4:00 to 6:00 pm CST and on Thursday, May 23, 2024, from 1:00 to 2:00 pm at Tate Funeral Home in Jasper, Tennessee.
Funeral services are Thursday, May 23, 2024, at 2:00 in the Chapel at Tate Funeral Home in Jasper, Tennessee with Pastor Ronnie Case officiating.
Jere will be laid to rest on Thursday, May 23, 2024, at Sequatchie Valley Memorial Gardens in Jasper, Tennessee immediately following the funeral service.
Pallbearers are John Johnson, Don Crabtree, Logan Crabtree and Blake Brown.
