JANICE E. BELK
Janice Elaine “Jan” Belk passed away on August 21, 2025, at her home in Sequatchie, Tennessee after a battle with cancer. Jan was a graduate of Brainerd High School and held an English degree from the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga. An accomplished writer and creative thinker, Jan built an impressive career in advertising and public relations. She held marketing positions at Fowler Brothers, Krystal, Chattanooga Theatre Centre in Chattanooga, Alexander Communications in Atlanta and Porter Novelli in New York. She also shared her passion and leadership skills as president of the Ad Federation of Chattanooga and served as an officer of the 7th District of the American Advertising Federation. Jan chose to live a life full of meaningful acts, compassion, and joyful appreciation. She loved Paul McCartney, James Taylor, black bears, and Azaleas in bloom.
Jan is preceded in death by her father, Charles W. Belk; mother, Dorothy Bowlin Belk; and brother-in-law, John Wood.
Jan is survived and deeply missed by her sister, Judy Belk Wood; and her dear friends, Bradley Daves, Robert Taylor, Evan Daves and Katherine Daves. She is forever cherished and remembered by beloved cousins, Nancy Lewis Kendall, Tracye Bowlin Griffith and Amy Lewis Hulgan. Her memory lives on in the hearts of cousins and friends.
