JAMES HOWARD OLIVER, SR.
James Howard Oliver, Sr., 84, was called home to be with his Lord and Savior on October 9, 2024. On August 5, 1940, he was born to the late John Oliver and Lula Flippo Oliver. James was married to the late Loucinda O’Dear Oliver. He had worked for Wheland Foundry as a Crane Operator. James was a member of Welcome Hill Baptist Church. He loved fishing, traveling and bicycling. James enjoyed watching General Hospital and taking care of the yard. He loved his family very much and enjoyed spending time with them.
James is preceded in death by his father, John Oliver; mother, Lula Flippo Oliver; wife, Loucinda O’Dear Oliver; brothers, Charles Oliver, Lonnie Oliver, Neil Oliver; sisters, Gladys Foshee, Minnie Green and Faye Hollingsworth.
Left to cherish his memories are his son, James (Christina) Oliver, Jr.; daughters, Wanda Wallace, Mary (Ron) Bianchi, Joanie Oliver; sisters, Katherine Peacock, Eleanor Summers, Jean (Ed) McLemore; grandchildren, Jamie Staton, Brandon Oliver, Eric (Chelsey) Oliver, Caleb (Reagan) Oliver; 10 great grandchildren; 1 great-great granddaughter; several nieces and nephews; special friend, Mary Ellen Plemons; several other family members and friends.
Visitation is Friday, October 11, 2024, from 4:00 to 8:00 pm CT, Saturday, October 12, 2024, from 2:00 to 6:00 pm CT, Sunday, October 13, 2024, from 12:00 Noon to 2:00 pm CT at Tate Funeral Home in Jasper, Tennessee.
Funeral services are on Sunday, October 13, 2024, at 2:00 pm CT in the Chapel of Tate Funeral Home, in Jasper, Tennessee with Pastor Clyde Painter officiating.
James will be laid to rest On Sunday, October 13, 2024, at Sequatchie Valley Memorial Gardens in Jasper, Tennessee immediately following the funeral service.
Pallbearers are Brandon Oliver, Eric Oliver, Caleb Oliver, William Hollingsworth, Thomas Holt and Wayne Oliver.
