JAMES EDWARD EVANS
James Edward Evans, 76, of Jasper, Tennessee was called home to be with his Lord and Savior on May 13, 2024. On September 10, 1947, he was born to the late Dewey “Dick” Evans and Mary Sisk Evans. He was a disabled veteran and served in the United States Navy, receiving Vietnam service medals with one Bronze Star, Vietnam Campaign Medal with Device and a National Defense Service Medal. He was a member of the Iron Workers Local 704. James was of the Baptist faith who loved Elvis, his family and spending time with his grandchildren. He enjoyed digging ginseng, Alabama football and the Atlanta Braves. He loved sitting and having a cup of coffee with his mom.
James Is preceded in death by his father, Dewey “Dick” Evans; brothers, Jerry Don Evans, Jimmy Ray Evans and sister, Brenda Evans Slatton; nephews, Josh Slatton, Chris Evans, Jonathan Evans; niece, Brooke Evans and brother-in-law, Wesley Brown.
Left to cherish his memories are his mother, Mary Sisk Evans; daughters, Becky (Jonathan) Tuders, Jennifer Evans; brothers, Kenneth Evans, Paul Wayne (Deb) Evans, Roger (Shelia) Evans, Ronnie (Lucy) Evans; sister, Cathie Evans Brown; grandchildren, Caleigh Ellis, Brayden Tjahyadi; sister-in-law, Audrey Evans; several other nieces, nephews, family members and special friends.
Visitation will be on Wednesday May 15, 2024, from 4:00 to 7:00 pm CST and on Thursday May 16, 2024, from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm CST at Tate Funeral Home in Jasper, Tennessee.
Funeral services will be on Thursday, May 16 at 1:00 pm CST in the Chapel of Tate Funeral Home in Jasper, Tennessee with Pastor Roger Webb officiating.
Military Honors will be presented by the Sequatchie Valley Honor Guard.
James will be laid to rest on Thursday, May 16, 2024, at Sequatchie Valley Memorial Gardens immediately following the funeral service.
Pallbearers are Jeremy Evans, Adam Brown, Scott Evans, Jason Evans, Brian Evans, Nathan Evans, Kyle Evans, Ron Evans and Shawn Evans.
