GEORGE BYRON PICKETT
George Byron Pickett, 82 of Whitwell, Tennessee was called home on Monday, January 2, 2023. On August 12, 1940, he was born to the late John J. Kelly and Mildred Pickett, he was raised by Frank and Hazel Pickett in Victoria, Tennessee. George had worked in manufacturing for 7-UP for many years. He enjoyed talking to people about cars, traveling to Detroit to visit family, spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. George graduated from McReynolds High School in South Pittsburg, Tennessee.
George is preceded in death by his father, John J. Kelly; mother, Mildred Pickett; sons, Allen Pickett, George Pickett, Gino Pickett; brothers, Walter Kelly, George Kelly; sisters, Cynthia Moore and Lisa Witherspoon.
He leaves all his memories to his sons, David Battle, Tony Springs; daughters, Geraldine Springs, Tanya “Niecy” Pickett; brother, Jimmy (Verta) Kelly, 17 grandchildren, 19 great grandchildren; cousins, Mabel Reid, Marva Westmoreland, Peggy Martin, Alice Officer and several nieces and nephews.
Visitation Is Saturday, January 7, 2023, from 12:00 Noon to 6:00 pm and on Sunday, January 8, 2023, from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm CST at Tate Funeral Home in Jasper, Tennessee.
Funeral services will be on Sunday, January 8, 2023, at 1:00 pm CST in the Chapel of Tate Funeral Home in Jasper, Tennessee with Pastor George Green and Pastor Jerry Hale officiating.
Burial will be on Sunday, January 8, 2023, in McWilliams Cemetery in Victoria, Tennessee immediately following the funeral service.
Pallbearers will be a host of family and friends.
