GEORGE EDWARD CRAWFORD
At the break of the morning on Sunday, May 1, 2022, the Lord and Savior of George Edward Crawford, 87, guided him to his forever heavenly home. George was a resident of Jasper, TN and had been married for 67 beautiful years to Marie Lyons Crawford. He was born on June 25, 1934 to the late George W. Crawford and Eliza Holland Crawford. George had served in the United States Army as a SP 4 (B4) T. His career before retiring was working at Tennessee Valley Authority as a Senior Instrument Mechanic Foreman. George was a faithful Christian, loved his Lord and loved to share a ministry of God’s words to anyone that crossed George’s path. He and Marie attended Mt. Calvary Church.
George’s favorite verse was: Ephesians 2:8-9, “God saved you by His grace when you believed. And you can’t take credit for this; it is a gift from God. Salvation is not a reward for the good things we have done, so none of us can boast about it.” NLT.
During his lifetime, George and Marie were very hospitable. They both liked southern gospel music and often invited traveling singing groups into their home for fellowship and food. They both loved being around their family and friends. George was known for his love of his family, people and had the gift of helping others. When George saw a need, he did what he could to fill that need.
He along with Marie were sacrificial givers, often doing without in order to give to their children and others. After a visit with George and Marie, you could hardly ever leave without them giving you something to take. His love of giving was deep and sincere.
George had worked for 13 years as the night clerk and writing warrants for the Marion County Clerk’s Office. He was known for his printing and rubber stamps business that he helped his Dad at the youthful age of 8 years old. After his father’s death, George continued “Crawford Printing”.
He was preceded in death by his parents, George W. Crawford and Eliza Holland Crawford; son-in-laws, Ronald Kerr, Sr. and Michael McCullough; brother, James C. Crawford; sisters, Eloise Hixson and Paula Stone and grandson, Kyle Crawford.
He leaves his years of memories to his wife, Marie Crawford; sons, Randy (Mary Beth) Crawford and Zackery (Beth) Crawford; daughters, Joyce Kerr, Diana (Dwight) Perry and Joanna McCullough along with nineteen grandchildren; eighteen great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews and a host of friends.
