Gary Earnest Dixon, 77, passed away unexpectedly on Friday, February 18, 2022. Gary was a lifelong resident of Marion Co., a retired General Foreman and member of the Sheet Metal Workers Union Local #5. Ever a gentle giant, he was quick witted, extremely funny, and sometimes opinionated about causes he held dear. He was an outspoken member of the Democratic Party and had a love for politics only surpassed by the love he held for his adoring wife of over 55 years, Mrs. Judy Dixon. Married in December of 1966, theirs is a love story for the ages.

Gary was born on September 30, 1944, to the late, H.E. Dixon and Edna Whaley Dixon.  He was of the Methodist faith and a 1962 graduate of Marion County High School, Jasper, TN.  Gary lived in Marion County most of his life however lived in various other states in his younger years.

He loved spending time with his family, especially his nephew, Trevor Romans.    During his spare time, Gary enjoyed fishing, repairing computers, working on 4-wheelers, talking, and making new friends.  Gary was known as “that man that never met a stranger”.   He was quick witted, funny, and very passionate about causes he held dear.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Edna and H.E. Dixon and brother, James Windy Dixon.

Gary was survived by his wife, Judy Sanders Dixon; nephews and niece, Sean Dixon, Seth Dixon, Michelle (Brad) Dixon Moore, Tanner Moore, Trevor Romans; aunts, Wanda Fay Tibbs, and Mildred Faucette; along with several other nieces, nephews, and friends.
