EARNEST RAY CHISM

Earnest Ray Chism, 89, of South Pittsburg, Tennessee was called home to be with his Lord and Savior on Wednesday, January 18, 2023.  He was born to the late Earnest Lee Chism and Dicie Richardson Chism on July 1, 1933.  He had been married to the late Mable Bishop Chism.  He retired from the State of Tennessee as a Social Worker in Vocational Rehabilitation. Earnest devoted his life to the church and preaching God’s word.  He enjoyed traveling with his grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and spending time with his family and friends.

Earnest is preceded in death by his father, Earnest Lee Chism; mother, Dicie Richardson Chism; wife, Mable Bishop Chism; sisters, Mexie Lee Chism and Lexie Chism Harbour.

He leaves his memories to his daughter, Penney (Darrin) Carey; grandchildren, April (Chad) Ballard, T. J. Moon; great-grandchildren, William D. Muir, Katlyn Whited, Katelyn Ballard, Jacob Moon, Breanna Ballard, Grayson and Mariana Eakin; great-great grandchildren, Makinlee and Indie Muir.

Visitation will be on Saturday, January 21, 2023, from 10:00 am to 1:00 pm CST at Tate Funeral Home in Jasper, Tennessee.

Funeral services will be on Saturday, January 21, 2023, at 1:00 pm CST in the Chapel of Tate Funeral Home, in Jasper, Tennessee with Pastor Jim Richardson officiating.

Burial will be on Saturday, January 21, 2023, at Sequatchie Valley Memorial Gardens in Jasper, Tennessee.

Pallbearers are William D. Muir, Bill Muir, Chad Ballard, Tyson Hart, Will Hurst and April Ballard.
