CARRIE E. DOCKERY HOBBS
At the break of the morning, the Lord took the beautiful hands of Carrie E. Dockery Hobbs, at the age of 83 years old, to her heavenly home on Friday, October 23, 2020. Carrie was born to Lonnie Mills and Ruby Beckham Dockery on March 15, 1937 in Moundville, AL. She had been a resident of Jasper, TN for the last 52 years. Before that Henry and Carrie lived in Chattanooga, TN. She moved to Chattanooga as a child with her family. She was married to Henry Haskell Hobbs until his passing in March, 2020. Carrie was a member of the Plainview Church in Tracy City, TN. She had been employed at Walmart of Kimball as an associate before she retired.
Carrie was a beloved mother and grandmother, a devoted wife of 65 years, a church leader, a world traveler, a gardener, a craftswoman, and a true and loyal friend to all those who were lucky enough to have known her. She was a woman who possessed a truly rare personality, one that blended deep and piercing intelligence with absolute tenderness. Her heart shone with a kind of light that cannot be faked, a light that makes other hearts brighter as they come near. She never once met a stranger. Both in marriage and in faith, she was steadfast. She and Henry exemplified not only what it meant to walk with God, but what it meant to walk with God together as man and wife. Their lives, their love, and their faith will serve as an inspiration and example to many.
She has joined her husband in heaven along with her father, Lonnie Mills Dockery; mother, Ruby Beckham Dockery-Clayton and brothers, Don Dockery and Randy Dockery.
Carrie is survived by her son, James “Jim” (Alinda) Gregory Hobbs; daughter, Rebecca “Becky” (Jim) Hobbs Kennedy; brother, Lee (Devonda) Dockery; grandchildren, Megan (Kyle) Sharee Metelka, Hunter (Emily) Hobbs, John Wesley Kennedy, Heather (Bobby) Richards Rankin and great-grandchildren, Bronx and Bexley Rankin.
