CAROLYN H. CURTIS

Carolyn (Hardy) Curtis 91, from the Marion Country area and lived in Chattanooga, Tennessee, passed away at her home surrounded by her loved ones on Wednesday, July 5, 2023.

Carolyn was a member of the Tiftonia Church of Christ.  She was one of the last operators to answer the phone number directory and connect you to your local call, she retired from South Central Bell/ATT after twenty-seven years of employment.  She helped open the Whizz Burger restaurant with her husband John Curtis in Tiftonia and was open for twenty-seven years.  They retired and sold the property to McDonald’s.  One of her favorite hobbies after retirement was to be with her friends in the Quilters club of Lookout Valley recreation center and a proud member of the 49er’s school club.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Hubert and Kassie (Adams) Hardy; her loving husband of sixty-three years, John Wilford Curtis; infant son, James Wilford Curtis; brother, Howard Hardy; sisters, Margaret Dagnan and Loraine Fallin.

Those left to cherish her memory are her daughters, Donna Lisa (Wayne) Shortridge, Karen Elaine (Mike) Bolus; sister, Betty Price; grandson, Zachary Tyler Bolus, several nieces and nephews and a host of friends.

Visitation will be Monday July 17, 2023, from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm CST at Tate Funeral Home, Jasper, Tennessee and on Tuesday, July 18, 2023, at the Tiftonia Church of Christ at 11:00 am CST/12:00 pm EST until time of service at 1:00 pm CST/2:00 EST.

Funeral Service will be on Tuesday, July 18, 2023, at 1:00 pm CST/2:00 pm EST, conducted from the Tiftonia Church of Christ with Brother Gary McDade officiating.

Interment will follow at the Sequatchie Valley Memorial Gardens in Jasper, Tennessee.
