CARL DAVID ROBERTS

Carl David Roberts, 74, of South Pittsburg, Tennessee, was called home to be with his Lord and Savior on Tuesday, May 12, 2026. Born on December 30, 1951, in Comfort, Tennessee, he was the son of John Newton Roberts, Jr. and Rosie Smith Roberts.  Carl shared 44 devoted years of marriage with his beloved wife, Shirley Edmond Roberts. Together, they built a life rooted in love, faith, and hard work.   Carl was a self‑employed truck driver who started driving in 1978, working side by side with Shirley for 37 years.  He was known for his skill behind the wheel, his strong work ethic, and his unwavering dedication to providing for his family.  Carl attended K‑Top Church of God in Kimball, Tennessee.  Carl lived his life with humility and gratitude. He was a good husband, father, grandfather, and brother, steady, dependable, and deeply loved by those blessed to know him.  Carl enjoyed the simple joys of life: cheering on Talladega, camping under open skies, and grilling for the people he loved. He also had a tender heart for his animals, his cats, E.O. and Bo Bo, and his dogs, Annie and Gracie, who brought him daily comfort and companionship.  Carl’s legacy lives on in the love he gave, the faith he carried, and the memories he leaves behind.

Carl is preceded in death by his father, John Newton Roberts, Jr., mother, Rosie Smith Roberts; and brothers, Roy Roberts and Bob Dove.

Left to cherish his memories are his wife, Shirley Edmond Roberts; daughter, Carla Fish; step children, Janet (Jamie) Morgan, Steve Shavers, Timmy (Selena) Shavers; brother, Joe Roberts, sisters, Susie Roberts, Mary Earp; grandchildren, Blake Fish, Patience (Dusti) Shavers, Constance Shavers, Tristan Shavers, Cara (Tristin) Card, Stevie Shavers, Michael (Anastasia) Black, Feleica (Blake) Frady; great grandchildren, Gage (Hailey) Easterlin, Talsimon (Cameron) Delaney, Tanner Shavers, Malachi Shavers, Isaac Shavers, Dale Card, Emorie, Ellie, and Elizabeth Black, Oaklyn, Paislee and Hendon Frady, Faith and Tyler; nephews, Landon (Tonya) Williams, Kenny (Crystal) Fagin; great nephew, Preston Williams; niece, Sheree Fagin; other family members and friends.

Visitation is Sunday, May 17, 2026, from 4:00 to 8:00 pm CST and on Monday, May 18, 2026, from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm CST at Tate Funeral Home in Jasper, Tennessee.

Funeral services are on Monday, May 18, 2026, at 2:00 pm CST at K-Top Church in Kimball, Tennessee with Brother Darrell Nunley and Brother Ronnie Case officiating.

Carl will be laid to rest on Monday, May 18, 2026, at Gilliam Cemetery in South Pittsburg, Tennessee immediately following the funeral service.

Pallbearers are Blake Fish, Kenny Fagin, Landon Williams, Wayne Smith, Larry Smith, Dan Pegg, Tanner Shavers and Gage Easterlin.
