CALLIOPE “CALLI” IRENE CATES

Calli, 2, was born on July 20, 2020, to Marlie Cooley Cates and Harold “Tom” Cates of Sequatchie Tennessee.  Calli passed away peacefully in her mother’s arms with family gathered around her on November 5, 2022.

Calli was the light of our lives.  Her favorite things were Cocomelon, swimming and playing with her big brother and best friend Axton.

Calli was preceded in death by her maternal grandparents, John and Beatrice Cooley of Leaksville, MS, Gene and Lavonne Manasco of Jasper, AL, Ethel and John Perry of Whitwell, TN; uncle, Charles Douglas Richardson; paternal grandparents, Vernon Cates,Harold, Sr. and Billie Ruth Cates; Sam and Shirley Slatton and Roger Rich.

Calli is survived by her parents, Marlie Cooley Cates (Mathew Esposito), Harold “Tom” Cates; big brother, Marlin “Axton” Calloway Cates; maternal grandparents, Marlin and Michelle Manasco Cooley; aunts, Charity (Bobby) Alder, Jillian Nunley (Rodney Kilgore); paternal grandmother, Martha “Sindy” Rich; uncles, Roy Cates, Robert Frye and Brian Rich.  Calli has extended aunts, uncles and cousins.  Special Cousins, Zachary Cooley, Natalie Alder, Marissa Nunley, Cole Alder, Tia Alder, Tripp, Tori and Tinslie Dagnan.

Visitation will be Wednesday, November 9, 2022, from 12:00 to 8:00 pm CST and Thursday, November 10, 2022, from 10:00 am to 2:00 pm at Tate Funeral Home in Jasper, Tennessee.

Funeral services will be on Thursday, November 10, 2022, at 2:00 pm CST in the Chapel of Tate Funeral Home in Jasper, Tennessee with Pastor Davaughn Richardson and Brother Lonnie Nance officiating.

Burial will be on Thursday, November 10, 2022, at Sardis Cemetery in Whitwell, Tennessee immediately following the funeral service.

Pallbearers are Brian Rich, James Bowman, Caleb Hall and Grady “Peanut” Green.

Honorary Pallbearers are Bobby Alder, Cole Alder, Zachary Cooley, Nathan Atterton, and Ronnie Ramsey.
