After a long illness, the Lord said its time to suffer no more so he called Sammy Gene Davis, at the age of 57, home on Tuesday, September 24, 2019. Sammy Gene was from South Pittsburg, Tennessee where he grew up, married and raised his family. Sammy Gene had a career as a utility employee at Beaulieu until his illness. He was of the Church of God faith and attended Revival Worship Center in Tiftonia, TN.
Sammy Gene was a man of God, devoted husband, loving father and grandfather. He enjoyed fishing, woodworking, loved to help anyone that came across his path, loved keeping his hands busy at all times and was a lover of the Tennessee Vols.
He was preceded in death by his parents, James Davis, Sr. and Virginia Davis; brothers, James Floyd Davis, Jr., Chris William Davis, and Bobby Gordan Davis; sister, Charlotte Ann Davis and granddaughter, Katheryn Dodd.
Sammy Gene leaves behind his beloved wife, Donna McHone Davis; sons, Eddie Thomas, Jr. and Timothy Bardin; daughters, Rebecca Kinsey (Dennis), Lisa Dodd (Danny) and Kimberly Cox (Tim); sisters, Mary Jo Thomas and Daisy Sisk along with 15 grandchildren and one great-grandchild along with a host of nieces, nephews and friends.
The family is requesting in lieu of flowers that donations may be made to Tate Funeral Home for the funeral home expenses of his mother, Virginia Davis.
The family will receive friends on Saturday, September 28th, 2019 from 11:00 am to 8:00 pm CDT and Sunday, September 29th, 2019 from 12:00 noon to 5:00 pm CDT at Tate Funeral Home in Jasper, Tennessee.
A memorial service will be conducted in the Chapel of Tate Funeral Home on Sunday, September 29th, at 5:00 pm with Pastor David Berry and Pastor Brenda Woods officiating.
