PAUL EUGENE “GENE” WEST, SR.
Paul Eugene “Gene” West, Sr., 89, of Jasper, Tennessee went home to be with the Lord on Monday, May 27, 2019.
Gene graduated from Marion County High School in 1949. He was a United States Air Force Veteran of the Korean War and also served in the Tennessee National Guard in South Pittsburg. He was also a lifetime member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars and American Legion Hall. Gene lived an active political career in Marion County, serving many years on the Marion County Commission and over 20 years as the Marion County Assessor of Property. He was a member of the Kimball Church of Christ.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Carter and Gertrude West.
Those left to cherish his memories are his wife of 50 years, Carolyn Glover West; sons, Paul (Lucy) West, Gene (Liz) West and David (Ashton) West; daughters, Holly (Billy Joe) Henegar and Teresa (Tim) Looney and several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, May 30, 2019 from 11:00 am to 3:00 pm CDT at Tate Funeral Home in Jasper, Tennessee with funeral services immediately following in the funeral home chapel with Scott Hawkins officiating.
Interment will follow at Sequatchie Valley Memorial Gardens with a Military Honors Service conducted by Sequatchie Valley Honor Guard. Pallbearers are Brett Looney, Bartt Looney, Triston West, Austin West, Joey Henegar, Carter West, Mayor Paul Wayne Evans and Mark Collins.
