Mary Chloe Roberts

On January 3, 2018, the Lord called Mary Chloe Roberts home. She was born on September 3, 1920, to Rev. Crawford L. and Gertie Elizabeth Morris in Section, Alabama. In the 1940s, she married Isaiah Basil Roberts from Glover Hill, Tennessee, and together they had five children. She worked in California during World War II, while her husband served in the Army. In the 1960s, Mary Chloe started a business that would become “The Shoe Barn,” in the carport of her home in Bridgeport, Alabama. It later moved its permanent home in Kimball, Tennessee. She lived a full life, moving to McIntosh, Florida, after selling her business and taking an early retirement. She and her husband enjoyed fishing on Orange Lake together for many years, before moving back to Kimball before his death. She loved to travel and took many excursions throughout her life. She was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and great-great grandmother.

She was preceded in death by her husband Isaiah Basil Roberts; her parents Reverend Crawford L. Morris & Gertie Elizabeth Morris; children Bobby Morris Roberts & Lydia Gaye (Roberts) Garner; siblings Gertie Mae (Morris) Vaughn & Reverend Foy Cedric Morris.

Those left to cherish her memory are her children Mary Ann (Roberts)  Atkins (Bruce) Atkins, Perry Lee (Becky) Roberts, Cathy J. Roberts (David McCullors); son-in-law Charles “Monk” Garner; several Grandchildren, Great Grandchildren, Great-Great Grandchildren & several nieces & nephews.

Visitation will be held at Tate Funeral Home in Jasper, TN Friday, January 5, 2018 from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. CST and Saturday, January 6, 2018 from 10:00 a.m. until time of service.

Funeral Services will be conducted in the Tate Funeral Home Chapel Saturday, January 6, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. CST with Bro. Troy Luttrell officiating.

Interment will follow at Sequatchie Valley Memorial Gardens.
