Our beloved mom, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend, Martha Jo Lowe, a.k.a.,"Nanny”, passed away peacefully on April 1, 2019. She was the rock of our family and the love of our father’s life. She kept an open heart and a helping hand for anyone she met who needed love, caring and assistance. She could also be feisty, cantankerous, and opinionated but most of all she was proud of her family. She worried about us constantly and kept us from killing ourselves and each other. She bragged about us to perfect strangers and encouraged us in everything we did. She also loved to sew quilts, keep tabs on what everyone was up to and she pointed the way to church, even when she could no longer attend herself.
While in high school, she met her future husband, Rev. Charles “Jack” Lowe. They eventually married on February 6th, 1953 and shared a long, happy marriage rooted by their deep love for each other and their family and served faithfully beside her husband as a pastor’s wife for many years. Martha was preceded in passage by parents Joseph and Virginia Belk, husband Rev. Charles Lowe, daughter Marilyn Morris, brothers Jackie, Terry and Jerry Belk, sisters, Inez Cantrell and Elsie Turner, and grandsons Jason Wynne and Chad Lowe. Left behind to cherish and celebrate her memory are daughter Debbie Wynne (Sanford), sons Bobby Lowe (Jeri) and Roger Lowe (Tamara), grandchildren Cheri Moreland (Mark), Jeremy Wynne (Stephanie, Kristen Magallanez (Matthew) Ryan Wynne and Chris Smith and great-grandchildren Andrew Wynne, Elisabeth Wynne, Lucas Magallanez, Wyatt Magallanez and Jack Magallanez, Jackson Lowe and Cameron Lowe, Mason Moreland and Cooper Moreland and Jessie Smith along with sisters, Mary Martin, Helen Rich, Etta and Abbie Belk. The family would also like to, include niece who was like a daughter to Martha, Paula Jo Smith.
Mom, thank you for teaching us, listening to us, helping and forgiving us, loving us, and always, always being there for us. We will carry your memory forward and try and to make the world a little bit better like you did every day. Farewell sweet mama.
