Joe Donald Pryor, Sr.

Joe Donald Pryor, Sr., 78, of Jasper, TN, went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, October 30, 2018.  He was a member of the Old Country Church in Kimball.  He graduated from McReynolds High School in South Pittsburg, Tn. in 1960 and retired from Mead Westvaco Paper in Stevenson, AL.

A Sergeant in the United Stated Army, he served in Vietnam in 1965-1966.  He received the CIB, Good Conduct Medal and other numerous medals and awards.  He was a member of Disabled American Veterans, Vietnam Veterans of America Chapter 203 in Chattanooga, TN., Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 6362 in Jasper, American Legion Post 62 in South Pittsburg and a very proud member of the Sequatchie Valley Honor Guard where he was a board member for several years and bugler since the organizations inception in 2010.

He was born on March 16, 1940 to the late Sally Naomi Pryor.  Also preceding him in death is his granddaughter Amanda Pryor, brother Pat Pryor and sister Ruth Pryor.

Joe is survived by his wife of 54 years Elfriede Pryor; son, Joe (Christine) Pryor, Jr.; daughter, Patricia Pryor, all of Jasper,  and granddaughter, Samantha (Derick) Nash, of Chattanooga; nephews, Ray and Cokey Pryor, of Jasper, Patrick Scales, of South Pittsburg and Neal Pryor, of Nashville; nieces, Sally Ann Pryor and Hilda Aker, of South Pittsburg, and many other family and friends.

Visitation will be Thursday, November 1, 2018 from 6 pm- 8 pm CST.  Funeral services will be conducted from Tate Funeral Home Chapel on Friday, November 2, 2018 at 2 pm CST with Pastor Randy Flood and Rev. Johnny Jones officiating.

Full military honors will be provided by the Sequatchie Valley Honor Guard.  Pallbearers will be members of the Sequatchie Valley Honor Guard and interment will be at Sequatchie Valley Memorial Gardens in Jasper, Tn.
