The Lord called James “Chigger” Boggs home on Wednesday, September 25, 2019 at the age of 76, to reunite with his loved ones gone before him. Chigger was born and raised in Meigs County until 40 years later he made his final home in Jasper, Tennessee.
Chigger had been employed with Local 704 as an iron worker before his retirement. He was a loving, caring family man, of the Baptist faith and adored each of his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Chigger was known for his love of helping others in any situation, he loved to cook and he was a huge Tennessee Vols Fan.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Joann Thomas Boggs; parents, Ralph and Reba Boggs; son-in-laws, Mike Rollins and Greg Counts; brother-in-law, Hoyt Bull and granddaughter, Carolyn Nicole Powell.
Chigger’s loved ones left behind are sons, Johnny (Stephanie) Gilliam, Aaron (Vanessa) Counts and Denny Gholston; daughters, Janet (Larry) Wilson; Peewee Counts (Johnny Anderson); Cindy (Roger) Mathews and Chrissy (Jerone) Powell; sister, Rebecca Ann Bull; ten grandchildren, several great-grandchildren; special friend, Lori Sonderleiter along with a niece and nephew and a host of special friends he cherished dearly.
The family will receive friends on Thursday, September 26th, 2019 from 4:00 pm to 8:00 CDT; Friday, September 27th, 2019 from 11:00 am to 8:00 pm CDT and Saturday, September 28th, 2019 from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm at Tate Funeral Home in Jasper, Tennessee.
The funeral service will be held at 1:00 pm in the Chapel of Tate Funeral Home with Pastor Darrell Nunley officiating.
Chigger will be laid to rest following the service at Pleasant Grove Cemetery in Jasper, Tennessee.
