Iris Mae Holman

Iris Mae Holman, 82, of Jasper, TN passed from this life, on November 28, 2017, to be with those that have gone before her.

Iris has been a resident of Jasper, TN for 23 years. She was born on December 19, 1934 in North Carolina. She was one of 8 children, and the oldest daughter. She married James S. Holman on August 28, 1951. They moved to Detroit, MI in 1955, where they retired from their jobs in 1986. They returned to Sparta NC, built a home and lived there until 1994 when they moved to TN. Iris is a two time cancer survivor and was diagnosed with Dementia in 2012. In 2016 she moved into The Lantern at Morning Pointe, an assisted living facility for dementia patients. She was dearly loved by all her caretakers there.

Iris was proceeded in death by her parents, Dewey and Virgie Mortez; her Husband  James S. Holman; daughter Diana Hartsoe; brothers Edward, Lester, Eston, James & Alfred Moretz.

Those left to cherish her memory are her daughter Joyce L. Payne; grandchildren Todd A. (Crystal) Edwards of Advance, NC, James M. Edwards (Jenny Shrum), Regina M. (Matthew) Walker, Austin (Alexandra) Payne all of Jasper, TN; sisters Carol Turner and Peggy Lopez of Morganton, NC, and several great grandchildren, as well as nieces and nephews also  Mary Cameron and Leandra Scott.

Visitation will be Friday, December 1, 2017 from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. CST and Visitation Saturday, December 2, 2017 from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. CST.

There will be a Graveside Service at Sequatchie Valley Memorial Gardens where Iris will be layed to rest beside her husband Saturday, December 2, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor Billy Watkins officiating. There will be a meal and gathering for family and friends following the Graveside Service at the Kimball Church of Christ.

The family request no flowers, but would love for donations in memory of her to be made to the Alzheimer’s foundation or to the American Cancer Society.
