Herman R. Harris at the age of 76, departed from his earthly life into the presence of the Lord on Thursday, September 19, 2019. He was born and raised in Athens, TN then at the young age of 15 his family moved to South Pittsburg, TN where he became a lifetime resident.
Herman was a faithful husband, cherished father, adored grandfather, and a loyal friend to many. After retiring from his employer, U.S. Pipe Foundry of 30 years, he enjoyed sitting on his front porch, working in the yard, rabbit hunting at times but spending time with family and friends was his delight.
He was a devoted member of Long Island Baptist Church in Bryant, AL, where he served as deacon for 27 years.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Earnie and Donnie Harris and daughter, Vanessa Harris.
Those left to cherish his memory are his wife, Carolyn Harris, of 59 years, whom he loved well; daughters, Kim (Tim) Shelton and Joetta Sayger; grandchildren, Greg(Michelle) Sayger, Alan(Ailey) Sayger and Nicole (Aaron) Raulston; four great grandchildren, Shelby, Tamaron, Caleb, and Adelyn Raulston; brothers, Clarence and Orville Harris; sisters, Catherine Sneed, Della Sue Middleton, and Maybelle Saffles along with several nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be Michael Rogers, Chuck Robbins, Greg Sayger, Alan Sayger, Aaron Raulston, Jeff White.
The family will receive friends on Saturday, September 21, 2019 from 2:00 pm to 8:00 pm CDT and Sunday, September 22, 2019 from 12:00 noon to 2:00 pm CDT at Tate Funeral Home in Jasper, Tennessee.
The funeral service will be conducted in the Chapel of Tate Funeral Home on Sunday, September 22, 2019 at 2:00 p.m. with Pastor David Marona officiating.
Herman will be laid to rest at Straight Way Cemetery in Bryant, AL.
