David Austin Blevins

DAVID AUSTIN BLEVINS

 Austin Blevins,76, of Jasper, Tennessee was called home to be with his Lord and Savior on Thursday, February 15, 2024.  Austin was born to the late John William Blevins and Maggie Ruth Durham Blevins on December 21, 1947.  He was married to Judith Glover Blevins for fifty-four years and was a member of Kimball Church of Christ.  Austin was a veteran of the United States Air Force, serving four years and working as a mechanic on the airplanes and being stationed in Vietnam for one of those four years.  He worked as a Truck Driver for USF Holland, retiring after forty years of service. He loved gardening and working with his tractor on his farm.  Austin enjoyed spending time with his family and loved spending time with his grandchildren.  He was a very giving person as well as a devoted husband and father. Austin loved traveling and going to the beach.  Austin was an 18-year post-heart transplant survivor. His other great love was his dog, Jake.

Austin is preceded in death by his father, John William Blevins; mother, Maggie Ruth Durham Blevins; brothers, Carl H. Blevins, Kenneth W. Blevins; sister Mary Dell Smith; father and mother-in-law, Robert Sam and Lorene H. Glover.

Left to cherish his memories are his wife, Judith Glover Blevins; daughter, Alicia (Mark) Collins; brother, Bobby Joe (Sheila) Blevins; sister, Millie (Lexie) Tyler; grandchildren, Anna Carley Collins, Cameron David Collins; several nieces, nephews, other family members and special friends.

Visitation is Friday, February 23, 2024, from 12:00 to 3:00 pm CT at Tate Funeral Home in Jasper, Tennessee.

Funeral service is Friday, February 23, 2024, at 3:00 pm CT in the Chapel of Tate Funeral Home, in Jasper, Tennessee with Minister Billy Watkins officiating.

A private burial will be on Monday, February 26, 2024, at Chattanooga National Cemetery in Chattanooga, Tennessee.

Pallbearers are Gene West, David West, Brett Looney, Bartt Looney, Isaac Blevins, Caleb Blevins, Chad Tyler, and Chris Tyler.  Honorary pallbearers are Susan Elder, Debbie Blevins, Tammy Baxter, Teresa Looney, John Blevins, Jerre Glover, Carl Lynn Blevins and Michael Paige Glover.
